Again about a dozen members came along. With the summer holiday’s in full swing it’s traditionally a quiet time of year so attendances are keeping up very well.
Jean informed the meeting that Iain Falconer is back in hospital. Everyone at Fair City Aquarist Society wishes Iain a speedy recover – get well soon Iain.
Graham Geddes will send Graham Ramsay the original files for The Open Show schedule. (This has been done).
Members were reminded about the Solway Open Show on Sunday 18th July.
Graham Geddes informed the meeting a recent car boot sale had raised another £37 -well done everyone.
Entry forms for the next Table Show were distributed.
A DVD was shown on the big screen (okay it’s the wall). The subject was “River Monsters – Amazon Flesh-eaters” and it was a rather dramatic account of some Amazon catfish. Some of the species featured were the piraiba – Brachyplatystoma filamentosum (large specimens can weigh over 900lbs and are said to be able to swallow a full-grown man), the popular redtail catfish – Phractocephalus hemioliopterus and the feared candiru –Vandellia cirrhosa which is a parasite that feeds from the gills of larger fish.
