Guppies - from wikipedia
When male guppies choose females to mate with, it seems they can be quite choosy.
Males decide how much effort they put into courtship and which females to court based on how many others they have recently encountered and how attractive they were, according to a new study into the mating tactics of tropical fish.

Can male guppies be gay?
For example, I had 2 male Peocilla Reticulata in a 2m community tank, the only 2 Poecilla in the tank and they were quite happy swimming around themselves and never really parted. They were always together. Last week I introduced about 15 female Poecilla of varying age and size and the males do not go near them. They still swim around as a pair. I found this very strange as they are both pretty much full grown and show-size. Most of the females are 4-5 months old at least, and a few over a year old. so in reading that article, at least one of the females should have been attractive to them.
Anyway, anyone have an opinion on my question?
It’s not unheard of Andy as you can read here:

I think in your case it’s probably just learned behaviour of some sort. I’m pretty sure instinct will overcome this at some point and they will show interest in the females.
I didnt think guppies were fussy
John
Well, 2 weeks down the line and they are still not interested in the females.
Looks like I may have to give them a lesson lol.
See you at the Xmas meeting John.
